Em novembro de 2011, os 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗲 𝗱𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗺í𝗯𝗶𝗮 assinaram um Memorando de Entendimento (MdE) que estabeleceu a introdução da língua portuguesa como opção curricular no sistema educativo namibiano. O acordo foi celebrado entre o 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁é𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗴ó𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘀 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗴𝘂ê𝘀 𝗲 𝗼 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁é𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗱𝗮 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮çã𝗼 𝗱𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗺í𝗯𝗶𝗮, marcando um passo importante na cooperação bilateral na área da educação e da língua. No âmbito deste compromisso, Portugal assumiu, entre outras medidas, a atribuição de bolsas de estudo a cidadãos namibianos, com o objetivo de os formar como professores de Português como Língua Estrangeira (PLE). Estas bolsas têm sido consideradas fundamentais para o sucesso do projeto, proporcionando aos beneficiários uma experiência de imersão linguística e cultural. Ao longo dos últimos anos, várias bolsas foram atribuídas ao abrigo do MdE, incluindo duas no ano de 2025. As 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗲 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘆 participaram, entre 6 de outubro de 2025 e 13 de março de 2026, no curso “𝗗𝗶𝗱á𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗟𝗘 – 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂çã𝗼”, com duração de 40 horas, ministrado pelo CIAL Centro de Linguas As bolseiras destacaram a qualidade da formação recebida. Hilia Amadhila descreveu a experiência como “incrível”, elogiando a simpatia dos professores e a estadia em Portugal. Já Kristine Fulay classificou a experiência no CIAL como igualmente “incrível”. A iniciativa reforça o papel da língua portuguesa na Namíbia e evidencia o impacto positivo da cooperação internacional na formação de professores e na promoção do multilinguismo.

In November 2011, the governments of Portugal and Namibia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing the introduction of Portuguese as a curricular option in the Namibian education system. The agreement was signed between the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Namibian Ministry of Education, marking an important step in bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and language.

Under this commitment, Portugal undertook, among other measures, the awarding of scholarships to Namibian citizens with the aim of training them as teachers of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PLE). These scholarships have been considered essential for the success of the project, providing recipients with an immersive linguistic and cultural experience.

Over the past years, several scholarships have been awarded under the MoU, including two in 2025. Scholars Hilia Amadhila and Kristine Fulay participated, between 6 October 2025 and 13 March 2026, in the course “Didactics of PLE – Introduction”, a 40-hour programme offered by CIAL Centro de Línguas.

Both scholars highlighted the quality of the training received. Hilia Amadhila described the experience as “amazing”, praising the friendliness of the teachers and her stay in Portugal, while Kristine Fulay also rated her experience at CIAL as “incredible”.

This initiative reinforces the role of the Portuguese language in Namibia and demonstrates the positive impact of international cooperation on teacher training and the promotion of multilingualism.
